Control Unit Program Memory or Control Unit, Replace

In the C 14 SE engine, the control unit consists of two parts: basic control unit and program memory.

Control unit OK, program memory defective: Install new program memory in existing control unit.

Program memory OK, control unit defective: Install existing program memory in new Service control unit - supplied without program memory.

Disassemble control unit. For this, remove cover for program memory (see illus. I), release program memory and remove (see illus. II).

Do not touch plug contacts. Do not open program memory.

Check plug contacts for damage or bending.

Recesses in program memory and base on control unit must match. Insert program memory into control unit - retaining clips must engage. Attach cover for program memory.

Information: Transfer Part No. and Letter Code of removed control unit onto sticker on Service control unit.
