Engine running at idle speed, operating temperature

CLOSED

This test step displays simply whether control unit has recognized the conditions for O2 SENSOR LOOP CLOSED or not.

Conditions for recognition of closed loop are:

1. Oxygen sensor voltage must have once exceeded the voltage of 600 mV or gone below 300 mV and

2. The engine operating temperature must be above 20 °C/68 °F or

3. The engine operating temperature must be above 68 °C/154 °F, if the engine was started at below 18 °C/64 °F and

4. Trouble codes 44 and 45 must not be stored.

If the full load enrichment displays ACTIVE, the TECH 1 display for test step 17 remains on CLOSED if the above conditions are fulfilled, even though in this case the control unit regulating function is switched off and the oxygen sensor voltage is not considered for correction of the air/fuel mixture.

I.e. test step 17 does not indicate whether the control unit is actually performing regulation, but merely whether the readiness for regulation exists. (Conditions for regulation fulfilled or not fulfilled)
