Engine running at idle speed, operating temperatureCLOSED

This test step merely indicates whether the control unit has recognized the conditions for O2 SENSOR LOOP CLOSED or not. Conditions for recognition of the closed loop are:

1. The oxygen sensor must have exceeded a voltage of 600 mV or gone below a voltage of 300 mV once and

2. The engine operating temperature must be above 20° C / 68 F

3. The engine operating temperature must be above 68 °C / l54° F, if the engine was started at below 18 C / 64 °F and

4. Trouble code 44 or 45 must not be present.

If the f ull - load enrichment displays ACTIVE, the TECH 1 display in test step 10 remains at OPEN (with X 12 SZ closed) if the above conditions are fulfilled, although the control function of the control unit is switched off in this case and the oxygen sensor voltage is not employed to correct the air / fuel mixture.

I. e. test step 09 does not display whether the control unit is actually regulating, but only whether the control unit is on stand - by. (Control conditions fulfilled or not)
