(If nominal value is not attained)

The air / fuel mixture correction of the oxygen sensor regulation can be evaluated using the integrator.

If, e. g., the air / fuel mixture is too lean, the integrator value and therefore the injection period is increased until the oxygen sensor signals that the mixture is too rich. The integrator is then decreased again and thus the injection period reduced until the oxygen sensor indicates a mixture that is too lean (closed loop).

Integrator = 128 means either: Stochiometric air / fuel ratio of approx. 14.7 kg air to 1 kg fuel, i. e. for the combustion of each fuel particle, there is one air panicle available

or: The circuit has been opened by the control unit, because a fault is present or the conditions for a closed loop have not yet been fulfilled.

Note: With closed loop and the system operating faultlessly, the integrator oscillates constantly around a value of 128 i. e. from 120 to 135

Integrator less than 128 means: Air / fuel mixture too rich, injection period is reduced

Integrator greater than 128 means: Air / fuel mixture too lean, injection period is increased

· To enable evaluation of a change in the integrator, the value of the O2 BLM correction 1 (idle) or the O2 BLM correction 2 (at partial load) must also be evaluated.

· Clear trouble code

· Integrator greater than 160 and O2 BLM correction less than 128 then:

wait until the system stabilizes itself (a few minutes).

· Integrator greater than 160 and O2 BLM correction greater than 150 then:

test step 10 part 3 mixture constantly too lean (oxygen sensor voltage less than 300 mV)

· Integrator less than 100 and O2 BLM correction greater than 128 then:

wait until the system stabilizes itself (a few minutes).

· Integrator less than 100 and O2 BLM correction less than 106 then:

test step 10 part 2 mixture constantly too rich (oxygen sensor voltage greater than 600 mV)
