Abbreviations, Definitions
| RON CODING | = | Octane number setting |
|---|---|---|
| COOLANT TEMP. | = | Coolant temperature |
| INTAKE AIR TEMP. | = | Intake air temperature |
| MAP SENSOR | = | Intake manifold absolute pressure sensor |
| TPS SIGNAL | = | Throttle valve potentiometer |
| DIAG. REQUEST | = | Diagnostic excitation lead (ALDL pin "B") |
grounded = ACTIVE
not grounded = INACTIVE
| FUEL PUMP RELAY | = | Fuel pump relay |
|---|---|---|
| PARK/NEUTRAL SW. | = | Selector lever position (AT only) |
TORQUE CONTROL
| = | Torque reduction during shifting operation |
(load reduction ignition retard: i.e. the firing angle is retarded during the shifting operation).
| VEHICLE SP.PULSE | = | Speed sensor signal: RECEIVED / NOT RECEIV |
|---|---|---|
| VEHICLE SPEED | = | Vehicle speed |
| DESIRED IDLE | = | Engine nominal speed (selected in TECH 1 mode "F8") |
| ENGINE SPEED | = | Engine actual speed |
| IDLE AIR CONTROL | = | Idle speed stepper motor or idle speed adjuster |
| SPARK ADVANCE | = | Firing angle |
| O2 SENSOR LOOP | = | Open/closed loop |
| O2 SENSOR | = | Oxygen sensor voltage |
| O2 INTEGRATOR | = | Oxygen sensor integrator |
(part of control unit used for determining loop deviation between: nominal mixture and actual mixture)
| O2 BLM ENABLE | = | O2 MSTS correction switched on: ACTIVE / INACTIVE |
O2 BLM CELL NO.
| = | O2 MSTS correction field number (these engines have more then two O2 MSTS field correction cells. If the field number given for idle speed is not attained, check the throttle valve potentiometer) |
O2 BLM CELL CONT
| = | O2 MSTS correction field contents (the nominal contents must be compared with the data list. Ensure that the field number is correct). | |
|---|---|---|
| AIR/FUEL RATIO | = | Air/fuel ratio: RICH / LEAN |
| INJECTION PULSE | = | Injector opening period (injection period) |
| CLEAR FLOOD MODE | = | Lean mixture for starting switched on: |
ACTIVE / INACTIVE
| DEC. FUEL CUTOFF | = | Deceleration fuel cut-off: ACTIVE / INACTIVE |
|---|---|---|
| POWER ENRICHMENT | = | Full load enrichment: ACTIVE / INACTIVE |
| IAC CNTR. ENABLE | = | Idle air control: ACTIVE / INACTIVE |
Idle air control ACTIVE means: the engine is at idle speed and the control unit is using the stepper motor to try and keep the idle speed stable.
Idle air control INACTIVE means: the control unit cannot recognize an idle situation. The above mentioned control is not switched on.
| A/C INFORMAT. SW | = | Air conditioning switch in passenger compartment |
|---|---|---|
| A/C LOAD SIGNAL | = | The air conditioning load switch is closed when the pressure in the air conditioning circuit exceeds a certain limit. This can be the case if, for example, the vehicle interior is very warm and the air conditioning has to work very hard to lower the temperature. In this case, the engine control unit receives information (12 V) and opens the idle air control (IAC) to prevent the engine speed dropping at idle speed. |
| A/C RELAY | = | Air conditioning relay for actuating the AC clutch |
| A/C CUTOFF | = | Air conditioning cutoff when certain conditions are fulfilled, e.g. excessive engine temperature or load. |
The air conditioning is cut off via the air conditioning relay.
The display in test steps 31 & 32 must always change at the same time.
| CO FUEL CORREC. | = | CO adjustment (14 SE engine only) |
|---|---|---|
| QUAD DRIVER TEST | = | Quad output amplifier for actuation of: |
Engine telltale K 57/91 Ter. C1
Air conditioning relay K 57/91 Ter. A 10
Engine load signal (from engine ECM to transmission TCM) K 57/91 Ter. B 5
The last output is unoccupied.
| MY | = | Model Year |
|---|---|---|
| MULTEC M | = | Control unit for the 14 SE, C 14 SE, C 16 SE engine |
