Diagnosis with TECH 1
If communication between the Multec control unit and TECH 1 via the diagnostic plug has been enabled, a series of diagnosis and trouble-shooting options for trouble code readout and data list parameter comparison are available.
In addition, various system components can be activated with the Actuator Test and checked for correct functioning:
Quad driver, DIS module, idle speed stepper motor, controlled canister purge valve,
AC relay and fuel pump relay
| System Components | Procedure and Test Condition |
|---|---|
| Quad driver | The four outputs are checked separately |
| DIS module | EST A and EST B are checked individually. |
The checking spark plugs are actuated at 2 Hz
for approx. 30 s.
| Idle speed stepper motor | The idle speed stepper motor is activated and transports the valve taper in and out by 160 steps in each case. |
|---|---|
| Controlled canister purge valve | The connecting hose to the active carbon canister is removed; engine intake noise can be clearly detected. |
| AC relay | The AC relay is switched on and off every two seconds by the control unit via TECH 1. |
| Fuel pump relay | The fuel pump relay is switched on and off by the control unit via TECH 1 once per second. |
RON Coding
Due to the use of electronic knock control, C 16 XE engines do not require octane number plugs.
In the interest of good driveability and low fuel consumption, Adam Opel Aktiengesellschaft/ Vauxhall Motors Ltd. recommend that fuel of at least 95 RON (premium unleaded) be used.If no other fuel is available, 91 RON (regular unleaded) can also be used.
