Multec - S (C 16 XE) F0: DATA LIST
| No. | TECH 1 Display | Conditions for Checking | Nominal Value | Trouble Codes | Terminal |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 06 | ENGINE SPEED | Engine running at idle speed, at operating temperature | |||
| 820 to 980 rpm | 35,19 | A 14 / A 13 |
The "ENGINE SPEED " depends on different input signals and the control unit programming.
If the actual value does not lie within the nominal value, the other sensor signals must first be checked.

| Engine speed increases and decreases | · Carry out test steps 05 and 08 | |
|---|---|---|
| · Further causes of fault: | · Defective inductive pulse pick - up |
· Burr on segment disc (58 - toothed disc)
· Incorrect distance between inductive pulse pick - up and segment disc
See Service materials
| · Idle speed too high or irregular | · Hot wire mass air flow meter supplies incorrect frequency - modulated signal |
· Loose contact in throttle valve potentiometer
· Throttle valve shaft worn
· Throttle valve gap too large or too small
(change basic adjustment only in case of emergency, see test step 08)
· Fault in controlled canister purge system
· Engine takes in dead air
· Seat of idle speed adjuster dirty
· Spark plugs defective
· Mixture too lean or too rich (see test step 10)
· Battery voltage too high / low
· Odometer frequency sensor / instrument defective or circuit interrupted
