Part 2

Mixture constantly too rich

(oxygen sensor voltage greater than 600 mV)

· Check fuel pump pressure

Feed pressure:

Return pressure:approx. 3.0 bar (idle speed)
approx. 0.3 to 1.5 bar· Feed or return line plugged / kinked

· Leaky injectors (dripping)

· Controlled canister purge system defective (see test step 22)

· Temperature sensor P 30 defective (see test step 02)

· Throttle valve potentiometer P 34 defective (see test step 04)

· Fuel pressure regulator defective

· Wrong injectors

If all nominal values are attained:· Check timing, oil consumption and valves for leaks

· Internal exhaust gas reeirculation rate too large

· Control unit defective

Part 3

Mixture constantly too lean

(oxygen sensor voltage less than 300 mV)

· Check fuel pump pressure

Feed pressure:

Return pressure:approx. 3.0 bar (idle speed)
approx. 0.3 to 1.5 bar· Feed line plugged / kinked

· Injectors plugged or defective

· Connecting line from air cleaner to throttle valve housing leaks

· Controlled canister purge system defective (see test step 22)
