Engine Control Unit (Rhd), Remove and Install
Only disconnect wiring harness for control unit when certain that battery has been disconnected for at least 20 seconds.
Disconnect ground cable from battery.
Remove air cleaner housing with air duct pipe, hot film mass air flow meter and air intake cover - see illustration "Air Duct X 10 XE", or "Air Duct X 12 XE".
Detach battery and battery support from body.
Disconnect wiring harness plug from oil pressure switch (1), coolant temperature sensor (2) and camshaft sensor (3).
Remove throttle body - see operation "Throttle Body, Remove and Install".
Detach fastening bolts (1) from injector plug strip and remove injector plug strip upwards and place to one side - thereby open clamps (2) with suitable tool.
Disconnect wiring harness plugs for temperature sensor (4) exhaust gas recirculation valve (5) and injector strip (2). Disconnect ignition module wiring harness plug (1).
Detach engine transport shackle (3) from cylinder head with cable bundle bracket.
Detach tank vent valve (3) from bracket and place to one side.
Release and detach wiring harness plugs (1) and (2) from engine control unit.
Remove ground cable (5) from engine control unit bracket.
Remove fastening bolts (4) and remove engine control unit.
Install engine control unit and attach to intake manifold (with 2 bolts).
Attach ground cable to engine control unit bracket.
Connect both wiring harness plugs to engine control unit and lock. Attach tank vent valve with bracket.
Attach engine transport shackle to cylinder head with cable bundle bracket - tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.
Connect wiring harness plug to temperature sensor, ignition module exhaust gas recirculation valve and connect wiring harness plug for injector strip.
Attach injector plug strip to intake manifold with fuel distribution pipe - tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.
Attach throttle body - see operation "Throttle Body, Remove and Install".
Connect wiring harness plug to oil pressure switch, coolant temperature sensor and camshaft sensor. Attach wiring trough to cylinder head cover. Attach battery to battery support and attach battery support to body.
Install air cleaner housing with air duct pipe, hot film mass air flow meter and air intake cover - see illustration "Air Duct X 10 XE", or "Air Duct X 12 XE".
Connect ground cable to battery.
