This test step displays whether the engine control unit has recognised the conditions for O2 SENSOR LOOP CLOSED or not. Conditions for recognition of a closed l- circuit are:
1: The oxygen sensor must have once exceeded a voltage of 600 mV or gone below 300 mV and
2: The engine temperature must be above 20 °C/68 °F (cold start) or
3: The engine temperature must be above 60 °C/140 °F (warm start) and
4: Trouble codes 13, 44 and 45 must not be set.
If the full load enrichment displays ACTIVE, the TECH 1 display in test step O2 SENSOR LOOP remains OPEN, i.e.the oxygen sensor voltage is not used for correction of the air/fuel mixture.
I.e. in TECH 1 data list no. 28 O2 SENSOR LOOP does not indicate that the engine control unit is actually regulating, but merely whether readiness for regulation is present. (Regulation conditions fulfilled or not fulfilled)
