Engine Control Unit
The main features of this new type of hybrid control unit are:
- Compact design
- Fastened directly to the engine
- Separate connections for body and engine wiring harnesses
The Motronic M 1.5.5 engine management system is equipped with a new type of engine control unit manufactured using microhybrid technology. This technology makes it possible to manufacture compact design control units which are nonetheless resistance to impact, vibration and temperature. It is therefore viable to attach the engine control unit directly to the intake module of the X 10 XE engine. The wiring harness can therefore be shortened.
For the first time, the engine control unit has separate plugs for the Motronic wiring harness and the instrument panel wiring harness. This separation means that the body wiring harness can be simply uncoupled from the engine control unit, allowing fast removal of the engine.
