Switch off all consumers
Engine running at idle speed, at operating temperature
2.0 to 3.0 ms

The injection period is an internal value of the control unit.

If the injection period considerably deviates from the values specified above, check the following points:

All consumers switched off?

COOLANT TEMP. OK ? (test step 02)

MASS AIR FLOW S. OK ? (test step 03)

IDLE AIR CONTROL OK ? (test step 04)

TPS SIGNAL OK ? (test step 05)

O2 SENSOR LOOP closed OK ? (test step 09)

O2 INTEGRATOR OK ? (test step 11)

O2 BLM CELL NO. OK ? (test step 13)

O2 BLM CELL, CONT OK ? (test step 14)

FUEL TANK VENT. OK ? (test step 21)

KNOCK VOLTAGE OK ? (test step 29)

If all above checks are OK: With TECH 1: carry out control unit reset.

(SELECT RESET IDLE ADJUST), repeat test

Trouble - shooting:Nominal Value:Cause of Fault:

(If nominal value is not attained)

· Select TECH 1 mode "F8"

· Using arrow keys, increase idle speed (1200 rpm)

· Using "Yes" key, select data list parameter INJECTION PULSE

· Switch off consumers

1.1 to 1.2 ms
· Using the arrow key on TECH 1, mode "F8", set idle speed to 650 rpm.The injection period should slightly increase as the engine speed drops.
· Control unit defective

· Using "Yes" key, select data list parameter INJECTION PULSE.

1.3 to 1.5 ms
· Disconnect wiring harness plug X 10 to injectors Y 7 - 1 to Y 7 - 4· Resistance greater than 100 kW
· Lead interruption

Using multimeter, measure resistance:

from: plug X 10 (engine side) Ter. E

to: plug X 10 (engine side) Ter. A - D

(Y 7 - 1 to Y 7 - 4, consecutively)

· Engine cold15 W - 16.5 W at (20 °C - 40 °C / 68  F - 104  F)· Resistance less than 2 W: short circuit in wiring harness

· Nozzle defective (at which a resistance differing from the nominal value was measured)

· Ignition OFF

· Disconnect fuel pump relay, bridge Ter. 2 and Ter. 8

· Disconnect wiring harness plug for tank vent valve Y 34

· Measure voltage:

from: plug X l0 Ter. A - D (Y 7 - 1 to Y 7 - 4, consecutively)

to: ground

less than 0.1 V· Short circuit to voltage

from: plug X l0 Ter. A - D

to: socket, fuel pump relay K 58 Ter. 8

· Ignition lock S 1 defective

· Ignition ON

· Measure voltage:

from: plug X 10 Ter. E

to: groundgreater than 11 V· Lead interruption

from: plug X 10 Ter. E

to: socket, fuel pump relay K 58 Ter. 8

· Short circuit to ground

from: plug X 10 Ter. E
