As the Z 20 NET DOHC Turbo petrol engine is a turbocharged engine, pressure levels in the inlet manifold vary between excess pressure and negative pressure as a result of the engine load.
In order to guarantee that the assisted braking system is provided with sufficient negative pressure, a vacuum pump is required.
The vacuum pump is fitted driveside to the cylinder head and supplied with oil by the engine lubricating system. It is permanently driven by the interior hexagon of the exhaust camshaft.
