Remove
- 1. Remove spark plugs
- 2. Screw EN-47987 (1) into spark plug bore of cylinder 1
- 3. Insert MKM-571-B (2), with the extension fitted, into the adapter EN-47987 • Insert MKM-571-B with a pre-tension of approx. 2-3 mm
- 4. Determine the top dead centre of cylinder 1 • Turn the crankshaft until the piston is at the point where it changes direction (the dial gauge pointer goes round the other way)
- 5. Apply guide marks to torsional vibration damper • Apply marking (2) to the lowest point of the torsional vibration damper • Apply marking (3) to oil pan • Apply 2x marking (1), each offset by 120°
Important. Open cap of coolant compensation tank carefully and slowly. Risk of burns
- 6. Unscrew cover of coolant compensation tank
- 7. Unscrew oil filler pipe cap
- 8. Remove oil dipstick
- 9. Attach adapter (1) and pressure loss tester (2) to cylinder 1
Note. Ensure the adapter is long enough. Do not damage spark plug thread.
- 10. Connect pressure loss tester to compressor
Note. If compressed air now escapes via any valves open on cylinder 1, the crankshaft must be turned 360° clockwise
- 11. Engage gear and apply hand brake.
Note. All wheels must be in contact with the ground.
Inspect
- 12. Check pressure loss of cylinder 1
Note. Note manufacturer's instructions
- 13. Move cylinder 2 to TDC • Turn crankshaft 120° clockwise
- 14. Switch adapter and pressure loss tester over to cylinder 2
- 15. Check pressure loss of cylinder 2
- 16. Check pressure loss of cylinders 3-4-5-6 • Procedure as described for cylinders 1 and 2
Install
- 17. Remove adapter from cylinder 6
- 18. Insert oil dipstick
- 19. Screw on oil filler pipe cap
- 20. Close cover of coolant compensation tank
- 21. Fit spark plugs
