Important. We recommend using cutting fluid when drilling, countersinking and thread-cutting
Important. The original stop collar of a countersinking bit may not be removed
- 1. When installed at the correct depth the flange (1) of the insert is positioned in the countersinking (2) of the tapped hole
- 2. If necessary, the countersinking bit (1) must be provided with a depth-setting ring (2)
Important. During drilling, it is necessary to remove the drill bit from time to time to remove swarf from the hole and the flutes of the bit.
- 3. Drill out the damaged thread • Drill until the stop collar touches the surface of the base material
Important. All the swarf must be removed from the drilled hole before cutting the thread
- 4. Blow out swarf with compressed air
Important. During thread cutting it is necessary to remove the thread-cutter repeatedly and remove the swarf from the hole and the flutes of the cutter. Ensure that the thread-cutter has produced complete threads which are at least as deep as the insert
- 5. Only cut the thread for the drilled hole by hand with a suitable thread-cutter
Important. All the swarf must be removed before installing the insert
- 6. Blow out swarf with compressed air
- 7. Spray cleaning agent into the tapped hole

Important. Oil or other foreign bodies may not come in contact with the outside of the insert
- 9. Coat the thread of the installer (2) with special oil KM-J-42385-110
- 10. Place insert (2) on the installer (1)
- 11. Apply screw-locking compound (red) (1) to the outer thread of the insert (2)
- 12. Place insert (2) with installer (1) in the cut thread by hand
Important. If the thread on the insert does not go so far down that the flange touches the countersunk surface, unscrew the insert again immediately with a suitable tool and check the tapped hole for any remaining swarf or defective thread-cutting
- 13. Screw in the insert with installer (1) until the flange (2) touches the countersunk surface
Important. The installer will stick before it has been screwed completely through the insert. This is normal. Cutting the thread at the lower part of the insert causes the insert to become locked mechanically with the base material
- 14. Screw installer (1) further through insert (2)
- 15. Check that insert (1) is correctly seated (2) in the tapped hole
- 16. If an oil or coolant duct (3) is restricted or covered by an insert, the duct concerned must be drilled open again to match its original diameter (4). Remove all the swarf after drilling out the obstacle and guide the installer through the insert again to remove burrs which can have been produced by the drilling out procedure.
