Replace Exhaust Manifold Gasket Opel Vectra C

Remove

  1. 1. Open bonnet
  2. 2. Disconnect battery. • Detach ground clamp from ground terminal – Remove nut
  3. 3. Detach oil dipstick guide tube • Remove oil dipstick • Remove bolt
  4. 4. Raise vehicle by its entire height
  5. 5. Detach catalytic converter monitor oxygen sensor wiring harness • Disconnect wiring harness plug (1) • Unclip wiring harness
  1. 6. Detach front exhaust pipe (2) from catalytic converter • Unscrew 3x nut (1)
  1. 7. Remove exhaust system • Detach 6x damper ring
  2. 8. Place collecting basin underneath.
  3. 9. Drain engine oil • Unscrew oil drain bolt • Drain engine oil – Replace gasket • Tighten oil drain bolt 14 Nm
  4. 10. Detach catalytic converter from bracket • Unscrew 2x bolt (1)
  1. 11. Detach lower engine compartment cover / splash protection
  2. 12. Remove ribbed V-belt • Mark direction of rotation • Tension tensioning device at lug (anticlockwise) • Remove tensioning device with KM-6349
  1. 13. In version with air conditioning: detach compressor • Disconnect wiring harness connector. • Unscrew 3x bolt (1) • Lay aside
  1. 14. Remove oil dipstick guide tube • Seal off oil dipstick guide tube hole
  2. 15. Lower vehicle by its entire height
  3. 16. Detach left transport shackle (1) • Remove bolt (2)
  1. 17. Remove mixture control oxygen sensor (2) with KM-6179 • Disconnect wiring harness plug (1)
  1. 18. Remove heat shield (1) • Unscrew 2x bolt (2)

Note. Note dissimilar bolt lengths

  1. 19. Remove exhaust manifold (2) • Unscrew 11x nuts (1)

Install

  1. 20. Clean sealing surfaces.
  2. 21. Install exhaust manifold • Use new gasket • Tighten 11x nuts 22 Nm – Use new nuts
  3. 22. Install heat shield • Screw in 2x bolt

Note. Do not tighten yet

  1. 23. Install oil dipstick guide tube • Use new gasket • Tighten 3x bolts, heat shield 8 Nm • Insert oil dipstick.
  2. 24. Raise vehicle by its entire height
  3. 25. In version with air conditioning: attach compressor • Tighten 3x bolt 22 Nm • Connect wiring harness plug
  4. 26. Install ribbed V-belt • Note running direction • Tension tensioning device at lug (anticlockwise) • Remove KM-6349
  5. 27. Fit lower engine compartment cover / splash protection
  6. 28. Attach catalytic converter to bracket • Tighten 2x bolt 20 Nm
  7. 29. Attach exhaust system • Attach 6x damper ring
  8. 30. Attach front exhaust pipe to catalytic converter • Use new gasket • Tighten 3 new nuts 20 Nm
  9. 31. Attach wiring harness, oxygen sensor for catalytic converter control • Connect wiring harness plug • Clip wiring harness into bracket
  10. 32. Lower vehicle by its entire height
  11. 33. Clean thread.
  12. 34. Install engine transport shackle at transmission side • Tighten bolt 25 Nm
  13. 35. Install oxygen sensor for mixture regulation • Tighten oxygen sensor 40 Nm • Clip wiring harness into bracket • Connect wiring harness plug
  14. 36. Connect battery. • Attach ground clamp to ground terminal – Tighten nuts
  15. 37. Check engine oil level, correct if necessary
  16. 38. Program volatile memories
  17. 39. Close bonnet
