How to Check the Compression Opel Vectra C

Remove

  1. 1. Remove air cleaner housing
  2. 2. Detach coolant hoses from heater core (1) and (2) • Place collecting basin underneath. • Release 2x clamp
  3. 3. Disconnect wiring harness plug from heater core (4)
  4. 4. Detach heater core from intake manifold • Unscrew 4x bolt (3)
  1. 5. Unclip engine wiring duct (1) from cylinder head • Lay wiring trough aside.
  2. 6. Separate wiring harness plug for DIS ignition module (2)
  1. 7. Remove DIS ignition module • Remove cover from DIS ignition module in direction of arrow • Unscrew 2x bolt • Remove from spark plugs with KM-6009 (1)

Note. Note arrow on cover

  1. 8. Remove 4x spark plugs using KM-6363
  2. 9. Remove relay carrier cover
  3. 10. Remove fuel pump relay • Pull out of base
  4. 11. Compression, Check • 4 cylinders • Start engine (approx. 4 seconds) • Compare compression values – Maximum permissible pressure difference: 100 kPa (1 bar).

Note. This requires a second person

Note. Minimum engine speed 300 rpm

Install

  1. 12. Install fuel pump relay • Push into base – Ensure correct pin contacts
  2. 13. Install relay carrier cover
  3. 14. Install 4x spark plugs with KM-6363 25 Nm
  4. 15. Install DIS ignition module (1) with KM-6009 • Replace seals (2) • Tighten 2x bolt 8 Nm • Install cover for DIS ignition module

Note. When installing a new DIS ignition module, there is no need to replace the seals

  1. 16. Connect wiring harness plug for DIS ignition module
  2. 17. Clip engine wiring duct to cylinder head
  3. 18. Attach heater core to intake manifold with new gasket • Clean sealing surface • Tighten 4x bolt 8 Nm
  4. 19. Connect heater core wiring harness plug
  5. 20. Attach coolant hoses to heater core • Secure 2x clamp
  6. 21. Install air cleaner housing
