Replace Con-Rod Bearing Opel Vectra C

Remove

  1. 1. Remove oil pan
  2. 2. Set crankshaft on torsional vibration damper in engine rotation direction to cylinder 1 and 4 BDC
  3. 3. Mark con-rod and con-rod bearing cap(1)

Important. The mating surfaces of the con-rod and con-rod bearing cap form an individual fit and must not be confused or damaged. Do not lay down on mating surfaces.

  1. 4. Remove con-rod bearing covers 1 and 4 (1) • Unscrew 4x bolt • Push piston with con-rod upwards in cylinder bore

Note. Note cylinder sequence

  1. 5. Remove con-rod bearing shells (1) and (2) • Inspect components

Note. Note installation position and allocation.

  1. 6. Turn crankshaft on torsional vibration damper 180° in direction of engine rotation
  2. 7. Mark con-rod and con-rod bearing cap(1)

  1. 8. Remove con-rod bearing covers 2 and 3 (1) • Unscrew 4x bolt • Push piston with con-rod upwards in cylinder bore

Note. Note cylinder sequence

  1. 9. Remove con-rod bearing shells (1) and (2) • Inspect components

Note. Note installation position and allocation.

  1. 10. Clean con-rod bearing journals and covers

Install

  1. 11. Insert con-rod bearing shells in con-rod and con-rod bearing cover • Coat con-rod bearing shells with engine oil
  2. 12. Coat con-rod bearing journals with engine oil
  3. 13. Install con-rod bearing covers 2 and 3 (1) • Tighten 4x bolts 35 Nm + 45° + 15° – Use new bolts.
  1. 14. Turn crankshaft on torsional vibration damper 180° in direction of engine rotation
  2. 15. Coat con-rod bearing journals with engine oil
  3. 16. Install con-rod bearing covers 1 and 4 (1) • Tighten 4x bolts 35 Nm + 45° + 15° – Use new bolts.
  1. 17. Install oil pan
