Important. Important:
- 1. This mode of procedure is used for localising defective components in the common-rail-system Fault location on the common-rail-system if the pressure is too low Test Operating instructions Required value T01 Test: Pressure sensor of the pressure reservoir - Unplug the pressure sensor of the pressure reservoir - Activate starter Engine must not start Yes: No: - T02 - Undertake inspection for external leaks on the common-rail-system - Check electric cable in engine wiring harness, replace if necessary - Replace pressure sensor - see operation "Pressure Sensor, Remove and Install" - Delete fault codes with TECH2 T02 Test: Undertake inspection for external leaks on the common-rail-system - Remove intake manifold - see operation "Intake Manifold, Remove and Install" - It is absolutely essential to remove all the covers from the intake ducts - Detach wiring harness plug from camshaft pulse pick-up. - Start engine - Undertake inspection for external leaks Leaks in the common-rail-system Yes: No: - T03 - Test pressure regulator - Replace leaking system components - Delete fault codes with TECH2 T03 Test: Pressure regulator and high pressure pump - Remove pressure line between high pressure pump and pressure reservoir - see operation "Pressure Line - High Pressure Pump to Pressure Reservoir, Remove and Install" Close connection for pressure line on pressure reservoir with KM-6273 Attach pressure sensor from KM-6273 to pressure line connection of the high pressure pump Attach test cable from KM-6273 between pressure sensor from KM-6273 and wiring harness plug-pressure sensor - Activate starter - Read out "actual value for rail pressure" with TECH2 more than 250 bar Yes: No: - T04 - Check injectors - Replace pressure regulator - see operation "Replace pressure regulator" - Read out "actual value for rail pressure" with TECH2 - If the actual value is less than 250 bar, replace high pressure pump - see operation "High Pressure Pump, Remove and Replace" - Delete fault codes with TECH2 T04 Test: Injectors - Install pressure lines between high pressure pump and pressure reservoir, see operation "Pressure Line - High Pressure Pump to Pressure Reservoir, Remove and Install" - Attach wiring harness plug to pressure sensor. - Remove pressure line between pressure reservoir and injector of the 1st cylinder - see operation "Pressure Lines - Pressure Reservoir to Injectors, Remove and Install" - Seal connections with protective caps from KM-6273 - Activate starter - Read out "actual value for rail pressure" with TECH2 more than 250 bar Yes: No: - Replace tested injector - see operation "Injectors, Remove and Install" - Repeat test "T04" on the injectors of cylinders 2 to 6 and replace the defective injector - see operation "Injectors, Remove and Install" - Delete fault codes with TECH2 - Delete fault codes with TECH2
