Replace Engine Oil Level Sensor Opel Astra H

Remove

  1. 1. Remove oil dipstick guide tube
  2. 2. Detach catalytic converter control oxygen sensor wiring harness (3) • Disconnect wiring harness plug (1) • Unclip 4x wiring harnesses (2)
  1. 3. Remove front exhaust pipe • Detach front exhaust pipe (1) from catalytic converter – Unscrew 3x nuts (2) • Attach flex pipe locking tool
  1. 4. Attach exhaust system on left side to underbody using strap • Use a second person • Detach 4x damper rings
  2. 5. Disconnect engine oil level sensor wiring harness plug
  3. 6. Loosen oil pan • Remove 3x bolt (arrows) from transmission • Remove 15x bolts (arrows) from engine block
  1. 7. Lever off oil pan evenly all the way round with suitable tool

Note. To avoid damage to the oil filter, ensure that the oil filter (2) remains in the oil pan. If it remains attached to the cylinder block (1), press the oil filter into the oil pan (3) using a screwdriver.

  1. 8. Remove oil baffle plate (1). • Unscrew 2x bolts (2)

Note. If the oil baffle plate is stuck fast: carefully prise off with installing bar

  1. 9. Remove engine oil level sensor • Detach retaining plate (1) in the direction of the arrow – Remove wiring harness plug (2) to the inside • Detach oil level sensor (3) – Unscrew 2x bolts (4)

Install

  1. 10. Install oil level sensor • Replace sealing ring • Tighten 2x bolt 8 Nm • Insert wiring harness plug • Attach wiring harness • Attach retaining plate
  2. 11. Install oil baffle plate • Tighten 2x bolt 8 Nm
  3. 12. Clean sealing surfaces.
  4. 13. Check position of oil filter (1)
  1. 14. Apply an approx. 3.5 mm thick bead of oil pan sealant to the joints (arrows)
  1. 15. Apply oil pan sealant to the oil pan • Apply an approx. 3.5 mm thick bead of oil pan sealant (1) as illustrated

Note. The assembly time including torque check must take no longer than 10 min

  1. 16. Install oil pan • Screw in 18x bolts • Tighten 15x bolt on cylinder block 10 Nm • Tighten 3x bolt on transmission 40 Nm
  2. 17. Connect engine oil level wiring harness plug
  3. 18. Attach exhaust system • Use a second person • Loosen strap • Attach 4x damper rings
  4. 19. Attach front exhaust pipe to catalytic converter • Detach flex pipe locking tool • Tighten 3x nut 25 Nm

Note. If necessary, release additional catalytic converter and turn it until the exhaust system can be installed

  1. 20. Attach catalytic converter control oxygen sensor wiring harness • Clip in 4x wiring harnesses • Fix wiring harness plug
  2. 21. Install oil dipstick guide tube
