How to Check the Timing Opel Astra H

KM-6148

1. Open bonnet
2. Remove engine cover
3. Remove air cleaner housing (4) • If present: unclip bonnet contact switch (1) • Unscrew bolt (2) • Unclip tank vent line (3) • Release and disconnect wiring harness plug of hot film mass air flow meter (7) – Unclip wiring harness (6) from bracket • Detach intake pipe – Loosen clamp (5)

4. Detach cylinder head cover
5. Raise vehicle by its full height
6. Remove lower engine compartment cover (2) • Unscrew 4x bolts (1) • Remove 2x body-bound rivets (3)

Note. Rotate crankshaft slowly and evenly in direction of engine rotation.

Note. In this position, the cams of cylinder 4 (1 and 2) must point upwards

8. Lower vehicle by its full height
9. Timing, Check • Use KM-6148 (1) – Tighten 2 bolts (3) • Push locating bolt (2) in camshaft sprocket holes provided

Note. If sliding in the locating bolt is not possible, the timings must be adjusted.

10. Remove KM-6148
11. Attach cylinder head cover
12. Install air cleaner housing • Install intake pipe – Tighten clamp 3.5 Nm • Attach wiring harness • Connect and lock wiring harness plug of hot film mass air flow meter • Clip in fuel evaporation hose
13. Attach engine cover
14. Raise vehicle by its full height
15. Attach lower engine compartment cover • Tighten 4x bolts • Install 2x body-bound rivets
16. Lower vehicle by its full height
17. Close bonnet
