Remove
- 1. Remove camshafts
- 2. Pull hydraulic valve lifters out of cylinder head with KM-845
Note. Put hydraulic valve lifters aside in sequence so that hydraulic valve lifters can be assigned to valves when they are installed again
- 3. Clean all removed parts
- 4. Position crankshaft at TDC-marking (1)
- 5. Special tools required from device for pressing down valve springs: MKM-6086 • Assembly head MKM-6086-100-1 • Thrust piece MKM-6086-100-11 • Assembly shaft MKM-6086-4 • Support MKM-6086-6 • Lever arm MKM-6086-7 • Joint MKM-6086-8 • Removal head MKM-6086-11 • Pliers MKM-6086-14 • Compressed air adapter MKM-6086-15
- 6. Install compressed air adapter (1) in spark plug bore of the first cylinder
- 7. Apply compressed air to cylinder
- 8. Fasten lever arm (3) to joint (4)
- 9. Attach support (5) with assembly shaft (6) and joint (4) to cylinder head
Note. Assembly shaft must sit centrally over the spark plug bores
- 10. Attach removal head (2) to lever arm
- 11. Place removal head vertically on valve spring collar
- 12. Press valve spring down
- 13. Remove valve cotters with MKM-6086-14
Important. Do not use magnetic tool to remove valve cotters
- 14. Remove valve spring collar and valve spring
Note. Lay aside the components in their installation position to prevent them being installed in the wrong order
- 15. Remove valve stem seals with KM-840
Install
- 16. Coat valve stem lightly with engine oil
- 17. Place new valve stem seal (1) onto valve guide with KM-835-A
- 18. Carefully drive in valve stem seal to end position by gently tapping
- 19. Insert valve spring and valve spring collar in the same installation position as previously
- 20. Insert thrust piece (3) in assembly head (4)
- 21. Push locking ring (5) backwards
- 22. Insert valve cotters (2) into assembly head
- 23. Fix valve cotters in position by pushing the locking ring forwards
- 24. Attach assembly head to lever arm
- 25. Place assembly head vertically on valve spring collar
Important. Do not make 2nd attempt without checking that both valve cotters are seated in the assembly head
- 26. Allow valve cotters to engage by pressing the assembly head down in the valve grooves
Note. ensure that valve cotters are correctly seated
- 27. Proceed in the same way for all the other valves
- 28. Detach device for holding down valves from cylinder head
- 29. Coat hydraulic valve lifters with engine oil and insert into cylinder head in correct sequence.
- 30. Install camshafts
