Remove and Install Engine Control Unit Opel Vectra C

Important: If the control unit is returned to Opel after exchange, the fault code memory must not be reset.

Note. When replacing or exchanging the engine control unit, the security code must be reset using TECH 2 before it is removed.

Remove

1. 1. Open bonnet
2. 2. When replacing engine control unit • Establish communication – Connect Tech 2
3. 3. Disconnect battery. • Detach earth clamp from negative terminal – Remove nut
4. 4. Remove engine control unit • Disconnect 2 wiring harness plugs, engine control unit (1)

5. 5. Detach engine control unit from intake manifold • Remove ground cable (2) – Remove bolt (1) • Unscrew 3x bolt (3)

Install

6. 6. Install engine control unit • Tighten 3x bolt 8 Nm • Connect ground cable. – Tighten bolt 8 Nm • Connect 2x wiring harness plug – Ensure correct pin contacts and correct seating
7. 7. Connect battery. • Attach earth clamp to negative terminal – Tighten nuts
8. 8. When replacing engine control unit • Follow service plan • End communication – Disconnect Tech 2
9. 9. Program volatile memories
10. 10. Close bonnet
