How to Check the Quick Warming Up System Opel Frontera A

Quick Warming Up System, Check

Engine coolant temperature to be below 80 °C / 176 °F and ambient temperature below 15 °C / 59 °F for quick warming up system to operate. If engine coolant temperature is above 80 °C / 176 °F and / or ambient temperature is above 15 °C / 59 °F, bypass the coolant temperature and / or ambient temperature switches as described below.

Harness connector from coolant temperature switch at thermostat housing.

Harness connector from ambient temperature switch located behind radiator grille and earth each harness connector - use suitable connectors.

Start engine. Do not operate accelerator pedal, switch on quick warming up system switch then check:

Fast idle control device operates to increase engine speed.

Intake throttle operates.

Disconnect actuator vacuum hose from exhaust throttle and ensure exhaust throttle moves by hand. Reconnect hose.

Operate accelerator pedal to ensure that intake and exhaust throttles return slightly.
