Function Check QOS - III
Before commencing the checks as specified in the checking program (see section 5.2.2 ) first check whether the pre - heating system is functioning properly.
· Measure voltage with a multimeter between the glow plugs and ground
· Disconnect wiring harness plug from the coolant temperature switch
· Switch "ON" the ignition
The indicator light should come on for approx. 5 seconds.
The multimeter should indicate approx. 10 V for approx. 10 seconds
· Switch "OFF" the ignition
· Switch "ON" the ignition
The indicator light should come on for approx. 5 seconds
· Turn the ignition and starter switch to the start position
The multimeter should indicate battery voltage
· Release the ignition and starter switch to the ignition "ON" position
The multimeter should indicate approx. 11 V for approx. 5 seconds
After 5 seconds the multimeter should indicate approx. 7 V for 3 minutes
