How to Check Routing the Cable to Preheating Delay Switch Relay Opel Frontera A

Pre - Heating Time Relay Feed Cable, Routing Check

Vehicles:

Frontera 23DTR up to V. I. N. PV550517

Condition:

On the above mentioned vehicles there is a possibility that the live feed cable (red) to the pre - heating time relay (A, see illustration U3939 overleaf) may be routed in contact with the lower edge of the relay support bracket (B). To eliminate any risk of damage to the cable through chafing, which could potentially lead to a short circuit fault, the following action is recommended.

Visual cheek

Identity the live feed cable (red) and check to see if it is in contact with the bracket edge. If appropriate carry out the following rework action.

Rework Action

Disconnect the battery

Remove the relay support bracket from the inner wing panel.

Disconnect the feed cable from the relay and inspect for damage, repair as necessary.

Place a short length of edge finisher (C) over the lower edge of the relay bracket as shown in U 3940.

Reconnect the cable to the relay terminal and refit the lock washer and nut. Tighten the nut to 4 - 6 Nm.

Install the relay support bracket to the inner wing panel.

Reconnect the battery.
