Function Check QWS
Before commencing the checks as specified in the checking program (see section 8.2.2 ) first check whether the quick warming - up system is functioning properly.
· Be sure that the engine is cold and that the ambient temperature switch and the coolant temperature switch are (have been) cooled down to below 8 °C. If not, connect a fused jumper wire to the wiring harness plug of the ambient temperature switch and the coolant temperature switch
· Start the engine with the quick warming - up switch "OFF" and let it run at idle for a few seconds
· Activate the quick warming - up system with the QWS switch
Check if the engine speed rises (Fast Idle Control Device function)
Check if the throttle valves in the intake manifold and the exhaust manifold are closed
· Depress the accelerator pedal for a few millimetres (All except Monterey)
Check if the throttle valve in the exhaust manifold opens halfway
· Depress the accelerator pedal for more than 60%
Check if the quick warming - up system is cancelled (both throttle valves open fully and fast idle control device is deactivated)
· Release the accelerator pedal and let the ambient temperature sensor and the coolant temperature sensor warm up to at least 10 °C (or disconnect fused jumper wire and connect plug in case of disconnection in further stage)
Check if the quick warming - up system is cancelled
· Disconnect and connect fused jumper wire to the wiring harness plug from the ambient temperature switch
Let the engine warm up to at least 80 °C
Check if the quick warming - up system is cancelled
