How to Remove and Install the Control Unit Opel Tigra A

Control Unit, Remove and Install

Disconnect ground cable from battery. Detach door weatherstrip from lower A pillar area of body web. Remove storage tray under instrument panel. Unbolt snap button (1, right arrow) and bolt (left arrow).

Unscrew fastening bolts (arrows) and remove A pillar panelling.

Unbolt bracket for wiring plug connections from A pillar (1) and lay aside.

Unclip control unit from holder frame (2). Disconnect wiring harness plugs (3 and 4) from control unit and remove control unit.

Ensure battery was disconnected for at least 20 seconds before disconnecting wiring harness plug.

Vehicles up to MY '96 1/2:

If engine control unit, program memory or knock module are defective - see operation "Program Memory in Control Unit, Knock Module in Control Unit or Control Unit, Replace (up to MY '96 1/2)".

Vehicles as of MY '96 1/2:

If the engine control until is defective, the engine control unit must be replaced completely The vehicle data must be programmed into the new engine control unit using TECH 1 or TECH 2 - see corresponding sub-operations in Checking Procedures. The new engine control unit must be labelled before installation with the calibration code of the defective engine control unit.

Connect both wiring harness plugs to control unit and insert control unit in holder frame. Bolt bracket for wiring plug connections to A pillar (1).

Install A pillar panelling and storage tray under instrument panel. Fasten door weatherstrip to body web. Connect ground cable to battery.
