Conditions for CheckingNominal Value

Affected terminals: E2, E3, E4, E6

Possible trouble codes: 17

Engine running at idle speed

Engine throttle valve CLOSED (accelerator pedal in idle position)

Vehicle stationary

Press key F8 in the system main menu, select the desired test using the arrow keys and confirm with YES. Follow the instructions in the TECH 1 display.

Note:

The injector switchoff control test can be used to make an indirect statement about the mechanical condition of a cylinder (compression). When the fuel injection of a cylinder is switched off completely, the engine has to move that piston against the compression force as well. The torque and output are reduced and the engine speed decreases.

The engine speed should decrease by the same amount for each cylinder cutoff, i.e. the compression and friction work should be about the same for each individual cylinder that is switched off consecutively.

To ensure that the electronic engine management does not immediately react to the cutoff of the injector by increasing the injection periods of the remaining injectors and opening the idle speed adjuster, the control unit keeps the mixture at a stochiometric ratio, i.e. 14.6 kg air to 1 kg fuel.

PLEASE WAIT

If the air/fuel ratio l = 1 has not yet been attained, the test cannot be started.

AIR/FUEL RATIO

Select the cylinders consecutively by pressing the "arrow up" key.
· Fuel injector for 1st cylinder F0:DATA LIST no. 52:1st INJECTOR
· Fuel injector for 2nd cylinder F0:DATA LIST no. 52:2nd INJECTOR
· Fuel injector for 3rd cylinder F0:DATA LIST no. 52:3rd INJECTOR

· Fuel injector for 4th cylinder F0:DATA LIST no. 52:

4th INJECTOR

The fuel injection can be switched off for 3 s each time by pressing the "arrow down" key.

Engine speed must decrease by approx. the same amount each time

Note:

During the control test, ”F9” flashes in the TECH 1 display. The snapshot mode is switched on by pressing the function key "F9". The data currently recorded during the cylinder cutoff is recorded for subsequent evaluation.
