Replace One Con-Rod Bearing Opel Vectra C

Remove

  1. 1. Remove upper part of oil pan
  1. 2. Release main bearing bridge • Unscrew 6x bolt in the release sequence stated (1 to 6)
  1. 3. Disconnect main bearing bridge. • Unscrew 8x bolt in the release sequence stated (1 to 8)
  1. 4. Remove 6x con-rod bearing cover • Unscrew 12x bolt • Remove 6x con-rod bearing cover with con-rod bearing shell

Important. The mating surfaces of the con-rod and the con-rod bearing cap form an individual fit and may not be mixed up. Do not lay on mating surfaces. Note the cylinder number marking (1) on the con-rod and con-rod bearing cover. The cast projections (arrows) on the con-rod bearing covers must be opposite each other on each pair of cylinders.

  1. 5. Remove con-rod bearing shell from con-rod
  2. 6. Inspect components • Con-rod end, con-rod bearing journal, con-rod bearing cap

Install

  1. 7. Install 6x con-rod bearing caps with con-rod bearing shell • Coat con-rod bearing journals and con-rod bearing shells with engine oil • Tighten 12x new bolt 22 Nm + 60° + 60°

Important. The mating surfaces of the con-rod and the con-rod bearing cap form an individual fit and may not be mixed up. Do not lay on mating surfaces. Note the cylinder number marking (1) on the con-rod and con-rod bearing cover. The cast projections (arrows) on the con-rod bearing covers must be opposite each other on each pair of cylinders.

  1. 8. Insert main bearing bridge

Note. Note installation position. Marking "F" (arrow) points to the timing side.

  1. 9. Fasten main bearing bridge (step 1) • Tighten 8x new bolt (M10) in the sequence stated (1 to 8) 39 Nm + 90°
  1. 10. Fasten main bearing bridge (step 2) • Tighten 8x bolt (M10) again in the sequence shown (1 to 8) 80 Nm
  1. 11. Fasten main bearing bridge (step 3) • Tighten 6x new bolt (M8) in the sequence stated (1 to 6) 25 Nm
  2. 12. Install upper part of oil pan
