Check Engine Compression Loss Opel Vectra C

Remove

  1. 1. Remove 6x sheathed glow plugs
  2. 2. Unscrew cap of coolant compensation tank
  3. 3. Unscrew oil filler pipe cap
  4. 4. Raise vehicle by its entire height
  5. 5. Detach engine compartment cover and right-hand engine splash guard if present
  6. 6. Set cylinder 1 to TDC • Turn crankshaft evenly in the direction of engine rotation • Put additional marks (every 120°) on the torsional vibration damper

Note. Use mirror. Marking on torsional vibration damper (2) must align with lug (1) on cover of the timing case.

  1. 7. Lower vehicle by its entire height

Inspect

  1. 8. Secure vehicle to prevent it rolling away • Engage gear or put lever into "P" position, tighten handbrake
  2. 9. Calibrate pressure loss tester

Note. Note manufacturer's instructions

  1. 10. Attach KM-6373 (2) with pressure loss tester (1) to sheathed glow plug bore, cylinder 1
  2. 11. Check pressure loss of cylinder 1 • Please listen for the sound of compressed air that may be escaping – Intake manifold, exhaust manifold, crankcase • Check for possible formation of bubbles in coolant compensation tank

Note. Note manufacturer's instructions

  1. 12. Engage neutral or put lever into "N" position
  2. 13. Raise vehicle by half its height
  3. 14. Set cylinder 2 to TDC.

Note. Use additional marks on torsional vibration damper

  1. 15. Lower the vehicle by half its height
  2. 16. Check pressure loss of cylinders 2 to 6 in the same way

Install

  1. 17. Raise vehicle by its entire height
  2. 18. Attach engine compartment cover and right-hand engine splash guard if removed
  3. 19. Lower vehicle by its entire height
  4. 20. Detach KM-6373 with pressure loss tester
  5. 21. Screw on oil filler pipe cap
  6. 22. Screw on cap of coolant compensation tank
  7. 23. Install 6x sheathed glow plugs
