Remove
- 1. Remove 6x sheathed glow plugs
- 2. Unscrew cap of coolant compensation tank
- 3. Unscrew oil filler pipe cap
- 4. Raise vehicle by its entire height
- 5. Detach engine compartment cover and right-hand engine splash guard if present
- 6. Set cylinder 1 to TDC • Turn crankshaft evenly in the direction of engine rotation • Put additional marks (every 120°) on the torsional vibration damper
Note. Use mirror. Marking on torsional vibration damper (2) must align with lug (1) on cover of the timing case.
- 7. Lower vehicle by its entire height
Inspect
- 8. Secure vehicle to prevent it rolling away • Engage gear or put lever into "P" position, tighten handbrake
- 9. Calibrate pressure loss tester
Note. Note manufacturer's instructions
- 10. Attach KM-6373 (2) with pressure loss tester (1) to sheathed glow plug bore, cylinder 1
- 11. Check pressure loss of cylinder 1 • Please listen for the sound of compressed air that may be escaping – Intake manifold, exhaust manifold, crankcase • Check for possible formation of bubbles in coolant compensation tank
Note. Note manufacturer's instructions
- 12. Engage neutral or put lever into "N" position
- 13. Raise vehicle by half its height
- 14. Set cylinder 2 to TDC.
Note. Use additional marks on torsional vibration damper
- 15. Lower the vehicle by half its height
- 16. Check pressure loss of cylinders 2 to 6 in the same way
Install
- 17. Raise vehicle by its entire height
- 18. Attach engine compartment cover and right-hand engine splash guard if removed
- 19. Lower vehicle by its entire height
- 20. Detach KM-6373 with pressure loss tester
- 21. Screw on oil filler pipe cap
- 22. Screw on cap of coolant compensation tank
- 23. Install 6x sheathed glow plugs
