Replace Con-Rod Bearing Opel Combo C

Remove

  1. 1. Remove oil pan
  2. 2. Detach oil baffle plate • Unscrew 6 bolts
  3. 3. Set crankshaft to cylinder 1 TDC • Turn crankshaft in direction of engine rotation at torsional vibration damper flange bolt until the con-rod pin is at BDC of cylinders 2 and 3.
  4. 4. Remove con-rod bearing caps (1) of cylinders 2 and 3 • Unscrew 4 bolts

Note. Note the marks (2) on the piston rod and piston bearing cap on the intake side. If there are no identification marks, please add them.

Important. Caution: The mating surfaces of the cod-rods and con-rod bearing caps form an individual fit and as a result must never be interchanged or damaged. Do not lay on mating surfaces

  1. 5. Remove 4 bearing shells

Note. Note the dismantling sequence.

  1. 6. Inspect components • Con-rod bearing journal, con-rod bearing cap, bearing shells

Install

Important. Align the con-rod bearing shells centrally in the con-rod and con-rod bearing caps

  1. 7. Insert 4 con-rod bearing shells (1) • In con-rod and con-rod bearing cap (2) • Grease 2 con-rod bearing journals

Note. Insert con-rod bearing shell with oil hole (3) in con-rod bearing cap.

Important. Observe the correct order and installation position. The marks on the con-rod and cap point to the intake side.

  1. 8. Mount con-rod bearing caps of cylinders 2 and 3 • Use new bolts • Coat con-rod journal with engine oil • Tighten 4 bolts 20 Nm + 40°

Remove

  1. 9. Set crankshaft to cylinder 2 TDC • Turn crankshaft in direction of engine rotation at torsional vibration damper flange bolt until the con-rod pin is at BDC of cylinders 1 and 4.
  2. 10. Remove con-rod bearing caps for cylinders 1 and 4 • Unscrew 4 bolts

Note. Note marks on intake side of con-rod and cap. If not present, add marks.

  1. 11. Remove 4 con-rod bearing shells

  1. 12. Inspect components • Con-rod bearing journal, con-rod bearing cap, bearing shells

Install

Important. Align the con-rod bearing shells centrally in the con-rod and con-rod bearing caps

  1. 13. Insert 4 con-rod bearing shells (1) • In con-rod and con-rod bearing cap (2) • Grease 2 con-rod bearing journals

  1. 14. Mount con-rod bearing caps of cylinders 1 and 4 • Use new bolts • Coat con-rod journal with engine oil • Tighten 4 bolts 20 Nm + 40°
  2. 15. Attach oil baffle plate • Tighten 6 bolts 9 Nm
  3. 16. Install oil pan
