Remove

  1. 1. Remove piston with con-rod

Important. Do not damage piston and con-rod. Use protective jaws.

  1. 2. Insert the piston and con-rod in the vice

Important. The maximum spread at the ring gap must not exceed dimension I ( 28 mm )

  1. 3. Remove piston rings • Remove 3 piston rings with piston ring pliers (1)
  1. 4. Check the piston ring gap with a feeler gauge • Insert the piston ring in the cylinder bore • Permissible gap: – 1st compression ring (1) 0,20 – 0,30 mm – 2nd compression ring (2) 1,00 – 1,50 mm – Oil scraper ring (3) 0,25 – 0,50 mm
  2. 5. Use feeler gauge to check piston ring axial clearance in piston ring groove • Permissible axial clearance: – 1st compression ring (1) 0,09 – 0,13 mm – 2nd compression ring (2) 0,04 – 0,08 mm – Oil scraper ring (3) 0,03 – 0,07 mm

Install

Important. The maximum spread at the ring gap must not exceed dimension I ( 28 mm )

  1. 6. Fit piston rings • Use piston ring tongs (1) to insert 3 piston rings in annular groove

Note. Note markings on piston rings

  1. 7. Adjust piston ring gaps • Arrange piston ring joints offset by 120° with respect to each other
  1. 8. Remove piston with con-rod from vice
  2. 9. Install piston with con-rod
