How to Check the Timing Opel Combo C

Remove

  1. 1. Open bonnet
  2. 2. Raise vehicle
  3. 3. Remove lower engine compartment cover / splash protection
  4. 4. Lower vehicle
  5. 5. Disconnect engine management wiring harness • Disconnect 9 wiring harness plugs – 4 glow plugs (3) – 4 injectors (2) – Camshaft sensor (1) • Unscrew 3 bolts • Disconnect wiring harness

Important. After the bracket has been removed the accumulator must not be subjected to any external force that would cause damage to the high pressure lines.

  1. 6. Remove the accumulator bracket • Detach accumulator from bracket – Unscrew 2 bolts (1) • Remove the accumulator bracket – Unscrew 3 bolts (2) – Remove engine transport shackle
  1. 7. Remove 2 closure bolts • From camshaft housing
  2. 8. Clean threads (4x) • 2 closure bolts, • 2 camshaft housings
  1. 9. Fit 2x EN-46781 (1) • Check for proper installation position

Note. The fixing reference drift must be fitted in a horizontal position. Fit the guide mark on the reference drift (arrows).

  1. 10. Turn engine in its direction of rotation • To the torsional vibration damper bolt • Turn engine in its direction of rotation until the fixing reference drift audibly engages

Note. Second person required. Ensure that the positioning mandrels do not twist.

  1. 11. Raise vehicle
  2. 12. Fit EN-46785 (1) • In bore of transmission bell housing

Note. Position the locating pin in the flywheel by carefully rotating towards the torsional vibration damper bolt. If fixing is not possible, timing must be adjusted.

  1. 13. Remove crankshaft locating pin

Install

  1. 14. Install lower engine compartment cover / splash protection
  2. 15. Lower vehicle
  3. 16. Remove 2 camshaft reference drifts
  4. 17. Fit 2 closure bolts • Use screw locking compound (red) • Tighten 2 bolts 15 Nm

Note. Complete assembly operations within 10 minutes

  1. 18. Install accumulator bracket • Insert accumulator bracket with engine transport shackle – Tighten 3 bolts 25 Nm • Attach accumulator to bracket – Tighten 2x bolts 25 Nm
  2. 19. Attach wiring harness for engine management • Connect 9 wiring harness plugs
  3. 20. Close bonnet
