Remove
- 1. Remove piston with con-rod
- 2. Remove piston rings with piston ring pliers (1).
- 3. Clean piston ring grooves – use ground-down side of old piston ring.
- 4. Check piston ring gap clearance with feeler gauge • Insert piston ring at narrowest point of cylinder bore Permitted gap clearance: Squared ring (2): 0.30 to 0.50 mm. Tapered ring (3): 0.30 to 0.50 mm. Oil scraper ring (4): 0.40 to 1.40 mm.
- 5. Check piston ring vertical play with feeler gauge in piston ring groove. Permissible vertical play: Squared ring (1): see Technical Data Tapered ring (2): see Technical Data Oil scraper ring (3): see Technical Data
Install
- 6. Insert piston rings into piston with piston ring pliers • "TOP" marking must be on top
- 7. Adjust piston ring settings • Piston rings (I) (square and tapered compression ring) offset by 180° • Oil scraper rings (II) - offset by 25 to 50 mm to left and right of intermediate ring gap
- 8. Install piston with con-rod
