Remove
Important. In vehicles with ESP - the steering angle sensor loses its basic settings every time the battery is disconnected and has to be recalibrated.
- 1. Open bonnet
- 2. Disconnect ground connection from battery • Slacken nut
- 3. Raise vehicle
- 4. Place collecting basin underneath.
- 5. Drain coolant • Place collecting basin underneath. • Attach suitable hose to drain connection • Open coolant drain bolt (arrow) – Drain coolant • Close coolant drain screw
- 6. Lower vehicle
- 7. Disconnect ignition module wiring harness plug (1)
- 8. Disconnect EGR valve wiring harness plug (2)
- 9. Remove engine transport shackle (3) • Remove bolt (4)
- 10. Disconnect wiring harness plug for mixture regulation oxygen sensor (1)
- 11. Detach wiring harness bracket (2) • Unscrew 2 bolts
- 12. Disconnect wiring harness plugs (1) from engine control unit • Release fuse (2)
- 13. Detach coolant hose (3) from EGR valve • Release clamp
- 14. Detach exhaust gas recirculation pipe (1) from EGR valve • Unscrew 2x bolts (2)
- 15. Remove EGR valve (4) • Unscrew 4x bolts
Install
- 16. Clean sealing surfaces.
- 17. Install AGR valve • Use new seals • Tighten 4 bolts 8 Nm
- 18. Attach exhaust gas recirculation pipe to EGR valve • Tighten 2x bolts 8 Nm
- 19. Connect engine control unit wiring harness plugs • Lock retainer
- 20. Attach coolant hose to EGR valve • Fasten clamp
- 21. Install wiring harness bracket • Tighten 2x bolts 60 Nm
- 22. Fit engine transport shackle • Tighten bolt 20 Nm
- 23. Connect wiring harness plug for mixture regulation oxygen sensor • Clip into bracket
- 24. Connect exhaust gas recirculation valve wiring harness plug
- 25. Connect ignition module wiring harness plug
- 26. Cooling System, Charge and Bleed
- 27. Connect ground cable to battery • Tighten nut
- 28. Program volatile memory
- 29. In vehicles with ESP: Calibrate steering angle sensor • Turn on ignition
Note. Turn steering wheel once from right stop to left stop
- 30. Close bonnet
