The Meriva will initially be available with three engine variants:
- Z 16 SE OHC-I petrol engine with 64 kW (87 BHP)
- Z 16 XE DOHC-I petrol engine with 74 kW (100 BHP)
- Z 18 XE DOHC-I petrol engine with 92 kW (125 BHP)

Coolant
"Red" coolant will be used as of MY 2001 (part no. 09 194 431 / catalogue no. 19 40 650)
Only this coolant must be used to correct the coolant level or refill the cooling system.
On-Board Diagnosis (OBD)
The Meriva has an on-board diagnosis facility for monitoring all exhaust-related components. Information on the principle and the system can be found in the "Diagnosis with OBD (On-Board Diagnosis), MY 2000 and 2001" brochure.
