How to Check the Compression Opel Meriva A

DOHC Petrol Engine 2 illustrations ~180 words

Note. Engine at operating temperature (oil temperature => 80 °C).

Remove

  1. 1. Open bonnet
  2. 2. Remove ignition module • Disconnect ignition module wiring harness (3) • Detach ignition module cover (1) from cylinder head cover in direction of arrow • Unscrew 2x bolts (5) • Detach ignition module (4) from spark plugs with KM-6009 (2)

Important. Do not jam

  1. 3. Unscrew spark plugs using KM-194-E
  2. 4. Open throttle valve using TECH 2 • Use "compression test" program (TECH 2)
  1. 5. Compression, Check • Operate starter for approx. 4 seconds – Minimum engine speed 300 rpm • Compare compression values – Maximum pressure difference between cylinders 100 kPa (1 bar)

Note. Use compression plotter with rubber cone and a measuring range of up to 1750 kPa (17.5 bar)

Install

  1. 6. Install spark plugs in cylinder head using KM-194-E 25 Nm
  2. 7. Install ignition module • Connect ignition module to spark plugs • Tighten 2x bolts 8 Nm • Attach ignition module cover to cylinder head cover • Connect ignition module wiring harness plug
  3. 8. Close bonnet
