How to Replace the Engine Oil Level Sensor Opel Meriva A

Remove

  1. 1. Open bonnet
  2. 2. Disconnect battery • Detach ground clamp from ground terminal – Undo nut
  3. 3. Raise vehicle all the way
  4. 4. Place collecting basin underneath
  5. 5. Drain engine oil • Remove drain bolt • Tighten drain bolt
  6. 6. Detach catalytic converter control oxygen sensor wiring harness (3) • Disconnect wiring harness plug (1) • Unclip 4x wiring harnesses (2)
  1. 7. Remove rear silencer • Release clamp • Unhook 3x damper rings
  2. 8. Remove exhaust system • Remove front exhaust pipe – Unscrew 3x nut
  3. 9. Remove exhaust system • Detach exhaust system – 4x damper rings

Note. 2nd mechanic is required

  1. 10. Remove right engine splash guard
  2. 11. Detach right-hand guide joint from steering knuckle • Detach bolted connection (1)
  1. 12. Detach right-hand drive shaft from intermediate shaft
  2. 13. Detach intermediate shaft (1) with support (2) from engine/transmission • Unscrew 3 bolts (3) • Pull intermediate shaft out of transmission
  1. 14. Remove rear engine damping block (3) • Unscrew 2x bolt (2) • Detach bolted connection (1)
  1. 15. Disconnect wiring harness plug for dynamic oil level monitor
  2. 16. Release oil pan • Detach 3x bolt (arrows) from transmission • Detach 13x bolts (arrows) from engine block
  1. 17. Lever off oil pan evenly all the way round with suitable tool
  2. 18. Remove oil baffle plate (1) • Unscrew 2x bolt (2)

Note. If the oil baffle plate is stuck fast: prise off carefully with installing bar

  1. 19. Remove oil level sensor • Detach retaining plate (1) in direction of arrow – Remove connecting plug (2) inwards • Detach oil level sensor (3) – Unscrew 2x bolt (4)
  1. 20. Remove oil pressure regulating valve • Unscrew closure bolt (1)
  2. 21. Remove spring and piston
  3. 22. Clean components
  4. 23. Check components
  5. 24. Clean threads

Install

  1. 25. Install oil pressure regulating valve • Install spring and piston together with closure bolt in pump module and tighten 21 Nm
  2. 26. Install oil level sensor • Renew seal ring • Tighten 2x bolt 8 Nm • Insert connecting plug • Clip wiring harness into position • Attach retaining plate
  3. 27. Install oil baffle plate • Tighten 2x bolt 8 Nm
  4. 28. Clean sealing surfaces
  5. 29. Apply liquid sealant • Apply an approx. 2 mm thick bead of silicone sealant to the joints (arrows) – Apply a bead of silicone sealing compound approx. 2.5 mm thick (dimension I) and in the area of the crankshaft rear bearing cap apply a bead of sealing compound approx. 3.5 mm thick (dimension II) – In addition, apply a bead of silicone sealing compound approx. 3 mm thick (dimension III) to the oil intake pipe connection

Note. The assembly time including the direction of rotation check must be no longer than 10 min•

  1. 30. Install oil pan • Screw in 18x bolts • Tighten 15x bolt on cylinder block 10 Nm • Tighten 3x bolt on transmission 40 Nm
  2. 31. Connect dynamic oil level monitor wiring harness plug
  3. 32. Install rear engine damping block • Tighten 3 bolts
  4. 33. Attach intermediate shaft with support to engine/transmission • Tighten 3x bolts 55 Nm
  5. 34. Attach right-hand drive shaft to intermediate shaft
  6. 35. Attach right-hand guide joint • Tighten nut – Tightening torque 60 Nm

Note. Renew nut and bolt

  1. 36. Install right engine splash guard
  2. 37. Insert exhaust system • Attach exhaust system – 4x damper rings

Note. 2nd mechanic is required

  1. 38. Attach exhaust system • Attach front exhaust pipe – Tighten 3x nuts 25 Nm

Note. If necessary release additional catalytic converter and turn it until the exhaust system can be installed

  1. 39. Install rear silencer • Attach 3x damper rings • Tighten clamp
  2. 40. Attach catalytic converter control oxygen sensor wiring harness • Clip in 4x wiring harnesses • Connect wiring harness plug
  3. 41. Lower vehicle all the way
  4. 42. Top up engine oil
  5. 43. Connect battery
  6. 44. Program volatile memory
  7. 45. Close bonnet
