The new Z 17 DTR diesel engine is fitted with bucket tappets. For this reason, the procedure for adjusting the valve clearance has changed.
Procedure
1. Check all valves with a feeler gauge (1) and note down the valve clearances.
2. Calculate how much compensation is required for all the valves

3. Remove the camshafts.
4. Replace the bucket tappets in question.

| Bucket tappets are available in 35 different thicknesses. The thicknesses vary from 3.46 mm to 4.14 mm in 0.02 mm stages. | ||

5. Install the camshafts.
6. Check the adjusted valves.
• Service: The valve clearance must be checked every 150,000 kilometres.
