DOHC Diesel Engine 2 illustrations ~325 words

Remove

  1. 1. Remove sheathed glow plugs
  2. 2. Raise vehicle by its full height
  3. 3. Remove the engine cover and right engine splash guard
  4. 4. Move crankshaft in direction of engine rotation to "Cylinder No.1 combustion stroke TDC • Marks (1) must align with each other

Note. The cams of the cylinder No. 1 must point upward -- they can position can be checked through the oil filler pipe. If the cams of the cylinder No. 1 do not point upward, rotate the crankshaft one revolution to the cylinder No. 1 combustion stroke TDC

  1. 5. Put assistance marking on portional vibration damper • The assistance marking must be located precisely 180° from the TDC marking
  2. 6. Lower vehicle by its full height
  3. 7. Unscrew the oil filler pipe cover

Important. Slowly and cautiously opened the coolant expansion tank cover. Burn hazard

  1. 8. Unscrew coolant compensation tank cover
  2. 9. Remove oil dipstick

Measure

  1. 10. Calibrate pressure loss gauge

Note. Follow manufacturer's instructions

  1. 11. Attach compression-loss tester to cylinder 1 • Use KM-6367
  1. 12. Engage 4th gear, put the handbrake on
  2. 13. Check pressure loss in cylinder 1 • Max. pressure difference between the individual cylinders 10% approx. • The pressure loss per cylinder should not exceed 25% • Check escaping air to localise the damage on: – intake ducts – exhaust system – Coolant compensation tank, oil dipstick guide tube – oil filler port – Tapped hole for sheathed glow plug
  3. 14. Move adapter and compression-lost tester to cylinder 3
  4. 15. Repeat pressure loss test on cylinders 3, 4 and 2

Note. Continue rotating crankshaft by 180° to the assistance marking or the TDC marking

Install

  1. 16. Close cover of coolant compensation tank
  2. 17. Install oil filler port closure cap
  3. 18. Install oil dipstick
  4. 19. Raise vehicle by its full height
  5. 20. Remove the engine cover and right engine splash guard
  6. 21. Lower vehicle by its full height
  7. 22. Install sheathed glow plug
