How to Replace the Piston Rings Opel Corsa D

Remove

  1. 1. Remove piston with con-rod

Important. Do not damage the piston and con-rod. Use protective jaws.

  1. 2. Clamp piston with con-rod in vice

Important. The maximum spread of the ring gap must not exceed dimension I ( 28 mm )

  1. 3. Detach piston rings • Detach 3x piston rings with piston ring pliers (1)
  1. 4. Check piston ring gap with feeler gauge • Insert piston ring in cylinder bore • Permitted gap: – 1st compression ring (1) 0.20 – 0.30 mm – 2nd compression ring (2) 1.00 – 1.50 mm – Oil scraper ring (3) 0.25 – 0.50 mm
  2. 5. Check piston ring axial clearance with feeler gauge in piston ring groove • Permitted axial clearance: – 1st compression ring (1) 0.09 – 0.13 mm – 2nd compression ring (2) 0.04 – 0.08 mm – Oil scraper ring (3) 0.03 – 0.07 mm

Install

Important. The maximum spread of the ring gap must not exceed the dimension ( 28 mm )

  1. 6. Attach piston rings • Insert 3x piston ring in ring groove with piston ring pliers

Note. Note markings on piston rings.

  1. 7. Set piston ring gap • Arrange piston ring gaps so that they are offset by 120° with respect to each other
  1. 8. Remove piston with con-rod from vice
  2. 9. Install piston with con-rod
