Ignition ON

·Disconnect oxygen sensor wiring harness plug · Lead interruption from

- Control unit Ter. 28 to oxygen

Measure voltage between oxygen sensor 0.4 to 0.5 V sensor (signal lead)

signal lead and ground Ter. 10 of - Control unit Ter. 28 to ground

control unit - Oxygen sensor to ground

· Short circuit of oxygen sensor signal lead

- to ground (TECH 1 display: 0 V)

- to voltage (TECH 1 display:> 1.0 V)

· Connect Adapter Cable KM-609 and · If control loop closes only very slowly:

reestablish connection between control unit - Oxygen sensor heating defective

and oxygen sensor - Lead interruption from fuel pump

relay Ter. 87B to oxygen sensor

Allow engine to run at 1200 to 1600 min¯¹ - Lead interruption from oxygen sensor

with coolant temperature > 85 °C/185 °F (heating sensor) to ground

Measure oxygen sensor voltage Voltage change · Oxygen sensor defective

with engine running between 0.1 and 0.9 V

· Mixture always too rich (see test step 25)

· Mixture always too lean (see test step 25)

· Control unit defective
