Remove
- 1. Remove front toothed belt cover (top)
- 2. Raise vehicle by its full height
- 3. Remove right engine splash guard
- 4. Set crankshaft to 60° (dimension I) before TDC of combustion stroke
- 5. Lower vehicle by its full height
- 6. Remove toothed belt • Mark direction of rotation • Tighten toothed belt tension roller (2) in direction of arrow with Allen key (1) and fix with KM-6333 (3) – Remove toothed belt
- 7. Detach exhaust camshaft sprocket • Attach KM-6347 (1) in conjunction with KM-956-1 (2) to camshaft sprocket – Undo 2x bolts (3) of KM-6347 – Insert KM-6347 in camshaft sprocket - ensure correct seat – Turn KM-6347 in the direction of the arrow – Tighten 2x bolts • Loosen camshaft sprocket bolt (4) – Counterhold with KM-6347 – 2 people • Remove KM-6347 – Slacken 2x bolt • Unscrew camshaft sprocket bolt – Remove camshaft sprocket
Note. The grooves of KM-6347 (arrows) must engage with camshaft sprocket
- 8. Detach intake camshaft sprocket • Attach KM-6347 in conjunction with KM-956-1 to camshaft sprocket – Undo 2x bolts of KM-6347 – Insert KM-6347 in camshaft sprocket - ensure correct seat – Turn KM-6347 in the direction of the arrow – Tighten 2x bolts • Loosen camshaft sprocket bolt – Counterhold with KM-6347 – 2 people • Remove KM-6347 – Slacken 2x bolt • Unscrew camshaft sprocket bolt – Remove camshaft sprocket
Note. The grooves of KM-6347 must engage with camshaft sprocket
- 9. Remove camshaft seal ring (1) • Prise out with suitable tool - do not damage sealing surfaces
Install
- 10. Clean sealing surfaces.
- 11. Insert camshaft seal ring • Coat sealing lip of the new seal ring with silicon grease (white) • Press sealing ring into camshaft bearing cap using KM-422 - use the bolt and disc from the camshaft sprocket.
- 12. Attach KM-6347 to exhaust camshaft sprocket • Position camshaft sprocket - check marking • Attach new camshaft sprocket bolt (4) – Do not tighten – Attach KM-6347 (1) in conjunction with KM-956-1 (2) to camshaft sprocket – Undo 2x bolts (3) of KM-6347 – Insert KM-6347 in camshaft sprocket - ensure correct seat – Turn KM-6347 in the direction of the arrow – Tighten 2x bolts
Note. The grooves of KM-6347 (arrows) must engage with camshaft sprocket
- 13. Tighten exhaust camshaft sprocket 50 Nm + 60° + 15° • Counterhold with KM-6347 – 2 people • Remove KM-6347
- 14. Fit KM-6347 to intake camshaft sprocket accordingly • Tighten intake camshaft sprocket 50 Nm + 60° + 15°
- 15. Fix camshaft sprockets in position with KM-6340 • Adjust camshaft sprockets so that the markings (3) are opposite • Attach KM-6340-Left (1) to intake camshaft sprocket • Insert KM-6340-Right (2)
- 16. Set engine to TDC • Turn torsional vibration damper in direction of engine rotation to "Cylinder no.1 TDC" (1)
- 17. Install toothed belt • Position toothed belt – Lay toothed belt on exhaust camshaft sprocket – Lay toothed belt on inlet camshaft sprocket – Tighten toothed belt tension roller and remove KM-6333
- 18. Remove KM-6340
- 19. Raise vehicle by its full height
- 20. Turn crankshaft 720° • 2 turns in direction of engine rotation • Set toothed belt drive gear to marking 1st cylinder TDC of combustion stroke (1)
- 21. Attach engine splash guard
- 22. Lower vehicle by its full height
- 23. Fix camshaft sprockets in position with KM-6340 • Insert KM-6340-Left (1) • Insert KM-6340-Right (2)
Note. Markings (3) on camshaft sprockets must align - if not, remove the belt and refit
- 24. Remove KM-6340
- 25. Install front toothed belt cover (top)
