Engine Control Temperature Sensor Replacement Opel Agila B

Remove

  1. 1. Remove cap from coolant expansion tank
  2. 2. Raise vehicle

Important. Observe the relevant environmental regulations when disposing of used coolant.

  1. 3. Drain cooling system • Place collecting container below • Open radiator drain plug • Allow coolant to drain into collecting container • Close radiator drain plug • Remove collecting container
  2. 4. Lower vehicle
  3. 5. Disconnect hose (5) from mass air flow (MAF) meter (6) • Release clip
  4. 6. Disconnect harness connector (3) from MAF meter
  5. 7. Disconnect hose (1) from air cleaner assembly • Release from clip
  6. 8. Remove air cleaner assembly (2) from vehicle • Remove 2x bolt (4) • Release 2x locator from battery tray – Pull up
  1. 9. Disconnect harness connector (2) from engine control temperature (ECT) sensor (1) • Release lock
  2. 10. Remove ECT sensor from thermostat housing assembly

Install

  1. 11. Install new ECT sensor (1) to thermostat housing assembly • Apply suitable sealant to threads • Secure sensor 22 Nm
  2. 12. Connect harness connector (2) to ECT sensor • Secure lock
  1. 13. Install air cleaner assembly (2) to vehicle • Secure 2x locator to battery tray – Push on • Install 2x bolt (4)
  2. 14. Connect hose (1) to air cleaner assembly • Secure clip
  3. 15. Connect harness connector (3) to MAF meter
  4. 16. Connect hose (5) to mass air flow MAF meter (6) • Secure clip

Important. Only use coolant approved by the manufacturer and ensure a concentration of 50% water and 50% anti-freeze.

  1. 17. Fill coolant expansion tank with new coolant fluid up to maximum level mark
  2. 18. Install cap to coolant expansion tank
  3. 19. Start engine and allow it to run at idle speed until thermostat opens

Note. Cooling system bleeds itself automatically during the warm-up phase.

  1. 20. Switch off engine
  2. 21. Check and correct coolant fluid level
