New Turbodiesel Engine VM41B
The introduction of the VM41B engine for diesel models is a new feature for Model Year 1997. The engine is a four - cylinder of 2. 5 litres, employing indirect injection. Special features of the engine include:
· A cylinder block of rigid construction, the crankshaft being accommodated in a tunnel housing in the block.
· Two vacuum pumps shared by the braking and EGR systems.
· A gear - driven camshaft, fuel injection pump, oil pump and vacuum pump.
· A cooling oil spray to the underside of the pistons from jets, which are located in the bearing carriers for the crankshaft.
