Crankshaft
The crankshaft is of surface - hardened steel and is supported in five bearings. The front bearing is pressed into the cylinder block; the three middle bearings are installed in two - piece bearing carriers; the rear bearing is installed in a one - piece carrier. The thrust washer, which is in two halves, is held stationary against the rear bearing carrier and bears against the inner face of the flywheel.

· Service
The crankshaft pulley and the crankshaft gear are removed using Puller KM - 8075.
| Remover / Installer KM - 8086 (arrowed) is used in supporting the end of the crankshaft during removal and installation through the rear of the cylinder block. | |||
