Safety Measures
Please read the warning notes and safety measures contained in this manual carefully, and follow them strictly to prevent the risk of personal injury to workshop technicians (as a result of improper conduct) and damage to vehicles which could endanger vehicle safety.
When removing the wheels, mark the position of the wheels in relation to the wheel hub. These marks must be taken into consideration when fitting the wheels. Tighten the wheel nuts to 88 Nm.
Before disconnecting the battery on Opel / Vauxhall vehicles, the Power-Sounder must be disarmed. Disconnect the battery within 15 seconds of switching off the ignition.
- During operations where there is the risk of an electric short circuit, disconnect the ground cable from the battery. This also applies when the vehicle is being electrically welded. Disconnecting the ground cable automatically deletes the memory contents of electronic systems. When the battery is reconnected, the clock, trip computer, and electronic window winders must be reprogrammed if necessary. If the radio is coded, inform the customer of the code.
- Wiring harnesses and cable troughs which have been loosened or detached for repair work are to be re�attached, in their original locations, using genuine parts (cable ties, clips, cable trough holders, etc.) from the Aftersales Department.
- Disconnect battery from vehicle electrical system before charging or quick-charging.
- Never use a quick charger for starting.
- Never disconnect or reconnect wiring harness plugs from / to control units or trigger boxes with the ignition switched on.
- Remove control modules if temperatures of over 80 �C are to be exceeded (drying oven).
- Caution when touching voltage�bearing parts of the ignition system!
Safety Measures
- During operations on the fuel system, keep sources of ignition away and avoid sparks.
- Absolute cleanliness must be observed when working on the fuel system.
- Check fuel system for leaks - leaking fuel must be mopped up immediately.
- Before removing parts of the fuel system, clean connection points and the surrounding areas.
- Do not allow the oxygen sensor to come into contact with fuel, and do not use fuel to clean the oxygen sensor.
- Protect the oxygen sensor from the effects of silicone.
- Do not apply underbody protection directly on to or near to the catalytic converter or the oxygen sensor.
- If repairs cannot be carried out immediately, close off opened components or cover them carefully.
- Leaks (dead air) in the intake and exhaust system in front of the catalytic converter lead to incorrect oxygen sensor measurements. Leaks in the evaporative emissions control system lead to irregular idling.
- During operations in the engine compartment, note that the fan can switch on automatically - risk of injury.
These warnings and cautionary measures are not exhaustive as Adam Opel AG / Vauxhall Motors Ltd. cannot possibly envisage all conceivable situations and aspects of maintenance and repair procedures or the possible hazardous consequences of each method. For this reason it is essential that anyone who carries out vehicle repairs first thoroughly checks the selected repair method to ensure that it will not endanger either personal or vehicle safety. Attention is drawn to the fact that all work in connection with the following service operations should only be carried out in accordance with the pertinent rules and instructions of the local authorities responsible for health protection, accident prevention and environmental protection.
