New Diesel Engine 4JG2T

The 4JG2T diesel engine is a 3.1 litre iron - block, alloy head pre - chamber design employing indirect injection and a water - cooled turbocharger. It has been certified to meet all the exhaust emission standards currently applied anywhere in the world, including the especially severe requirements for Switzerland.

Over 85 per cent of peak torque is produced from as low as 1,100 rpm right through to maximum power, making this version particularly well suited to heavy - duty work such as ploughing through deep mud or towing heavy trailers.

Special features of the engine include:

- A large capacity water fed oil cooler and increased lubricant volume.

- A high capacity water pump and large diameter eight - blade viscous - coupled cooling fan.

- An easy access oil filter.

- Cooling channels and oil spray jets for the underside of the pistons.

- Tapered low friction piston rings.

- An electronically - controlled quick - on - start (QOS - III) two - stage glow plug management system, incorporating a timed afterglow to reduce cold combustion noise.

- A revised Quick Warming up System (QWS) than that used on the 4JA1 engine.

The new 3.1 litre diesel engine has been specially designed to combine high levels of running refinement with strong low speed torque and low exhaust emissions. The engine develops 77 kW (105 PS) at 3600 rpm (DIN) and 255 Nm (26.0 kg - m) at 2000 rpm (DIN).
