Cylinder Liner Replace Opel Campo I

Remove

Cylinder liner from cylinder block - use a press and:

  • KM-8063 on 4JA1T/4JA1TC engine.
  • KM-738 on 4JG2T engine.

Measure

Distortion of cylinder block - see operation "Cylinder Block, Check for Plane, Surface".

Clean

Cylinder liners and bores with clean kerosene or diesel fuel.

Blow dry all surfaces with compressed air.

Caution

All foreign material must be carefully removed from cylinder liner and bore.

Chrome plated liners can be installed with the assistance of dry ice which will cause the liner to contract.

Caution

The chrome plated liner must be installed immediately after cooling.

Handle dry ice using protective clothing to avoid frostbite.

Install

Cylinder liner (1) into cylinder block (2) from top - use a press and:

  • KM-8061 on 4JA1T/4JA1TC engine.
  • KM-737 on 4JG2T engine.

Position cylinder block directly beneath shaft centre of press.

Install

Cylinder liner into cylinder block – apply seating force of 4,900 N with bench press apply force of 24,500 N to fully seat cylinder liner.

Measure

Cylinder liner bore at two depths from upper surface of cylinder block and in four directions – use cylinder gauge.

Measuring depth:

  • 4JA1T/4JA1TC engine - 20 mm and 140 mm.
  • 4JG2T engine - 20 mm and 165 mm.
